Nintendo Switch 2 sales surpass 26.35 million units worldwide

Nintendo Switch 2 sales have surpassed 26.35 million units worldwide as of September 30, 2026, according to Nintendo’s first-half fiscal year financial report.

What happened?

In the July-to-September quarter, the company recorded an additional 2.67 million Switch 2 consoles sold. For the first half of the year (April to September), hardware sales totaled 6.49 million units, down 37.4% from the same period the previous year.

The original Switch, meanwhile, reached 157.20 million units sold over nearly ten years on the market. Switch 2 software totals 73.21 million copies.

Why it matters

The slowdown was expected after the console’s strong launch in June 2025. Even so, Nintendo Switch 2 sales continue to outpace the original Switch’s early sales rate. Titles like Mario Kart World have already surpassed 16 million copies.

Nintendo maintained its fiscal year sales forecast of 16.5 million Switch 2 units.
