Nintendo has shipped Nintendo Switch 2 update 23.0.1 (same version on original Switch). The patch, listed as October 1, 2026 on some regional support pages, fixes a 23.0.0 issue in which software sometimes took too long to start, pause or close.
What happened?
Version 23.0.0 arrived on September 10, 2026 with larger changes, including docked VRR on Switch 2 and GameChat tweaks. After that, some users saw games or apps hang when opening, pausing or quitting.
The official 23.0.1 notes are brief: a fix for that delay. No new features are listed.
Why it matters
Anyone who updated to 23.0.0 and hit sluggish HOME or exit behavior now has an official fix. The update covers Switch 2 and the original Switch family.
In practice
Online consoles usually download it automatically. To force it: System Settings → System → System Update. Nintendo warns that modified consoles or unsupported save data may fail after the update.
