NBA 2K25 will leave digital stores on October 30, 2026, about two years after its September 2024 launch. 2K and Take-Two have confirmed the delisting schedule and the server shutdown, including modes many players treated as a single-player campaign.
What happened?
According to VGC, the game stops being sold on digital storefronts on October 30. Anyone who already owns it can still redownload the copy after that date. Full access does not last long, though: online servers are shut down on December 31, 2026.
2K said that, from January 1, 2027, players will no longer be able to play multiplayer matches or enter online modes. Earning Virtual Currency, the in-game currency known as VC, also ends.
Why it matters
The sensitive point is MyCareer. In practice, it is the story mode in which the player builds a created athlete. Because progression depends on VC, the mode stops working when the currency and the servers go offline. MyTeam, 2K's card-and-roster mode, follows the same path.
From January 1, 2027, what remains are Play Now, MyNBA and The W. Features that require a connection to 2K servers, such as online leagues and community sharing, will not be available.
What changes in practice?
- October 30, 2026: NBA 2K25 disappears from digital stores.
- Owners can still redownload the game after that date.
- December 31, 2026: servers are shut down.
- January 1, 2027: no multiplayer, no online modes, no VC, no MyCareer and no MyTeam.
- Play Now, MyNBA and The W remain, without server-dependent features.
The title launched in September 2024 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The standard edition featured Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum on the cover. The WNBA edition featured Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson.
