The Motorola Signature 27 is the first announced smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, Qualcomm's most powerful 2 nm chip. Motorola revealed the device at the Qualcomm Tech Summit, still without pricing or a full spec sheet, but highlighting a Sony LYTIA 910 camera, a 200 MP telephoto lens, and Bang & Olufsen audio.
What happened?
On the same day Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and its Extreme version, Motorola claimed the title of the first brand to secure the Extreme Gen 6 in a smartphone. The Verge, Android Authority, and Tom's Guide confirm a global rollout in 2026, marking a US release this time—since the original Signature from early in the year didn't reach American shores.
What we already know
The main camera on the Motorola Signature 27 utilizes the 50 MP Sony LYTIA 910 sensor, featuring LOFIC hardware designed to capture an extremely wide dynamic range. Similar hardware appears in this week's Vivo X500 Pro Max. The telephoto shooter is a 200 MP periscope lens. Motorola calls its AI-assisted zoom "Super Zoom Pro" and claims up to 100x magnification.
To keep the Extreme Gen 6 from overheating, it features ArcticMesh cooling: a 3D vapor chamber about 40% larger, a copper mesh, liquid metal, and diamond-infused thermal gel. The device runs on Android 17, backed by seven years of OS and security updates.
The aluminum body comes in Pantone Coal Smoke (black) and Pantone Capulet Olive (green). One side features a tactical texture, while the other sports a feather-inspired finish. The four lenses and flash sit on an arched "camera plateau"—a design the international press has described as polarizing.
Why it matters
The Extreme Gen 6 is Qualcomm's answer to Apple's top-tier silicon. The Motorola Signature 27 uses this milestone to re-enter the flagship race for cameras and performance, not just pricing. A 200 MP telephoto lens and the LYTIA 910 form the exact hardware package that currently defines the Xiaomi Ultra and Vivo X Pro series.
What we still don't know
Pricing, exact launch dates, screen size, battery specs, RAM, and storage remain unannounced. Motorola promises further details ahead of the launch. Until then, the Motorola Signature 27 serves as a showcase for the Extreme chip rather than a product to judge by a spec sheet alone.
