Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance received an extended trailer cut at the Tokyo Game Show 2026 Capcom Spotlight, confirming the return of the iconic fire elder dragon, Teostra. The major expansion for Capcom's hunting hit is set to launch in 2027. Capcom itself released the details, with Gematsu and Famitsu covering the showcase this Wednesday (16).
What happened?
During the approximately 40-minute presentation, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Takuro Hiraoka showcased the extended version of the first official trailer. In addition to revealing Teostra as a huntable monster, the studio explained the Boost Bracer—an accessory that alters hunt pacing—and outlined several quality-of-life adjustments.
Two of these updates also apply to players of the base title: faster weapon swapping without the Seikret and changing gear directly from the Item Box instead of visiting the tent. At the TGS booth, Capcom promises the expansion's first playable demo featuring quests in the new Cloud Ruins map against the monster Alacator, alongside a veteran Teostra hunt. What else was announced at the Spotlight
Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen received its main trailer. The expansion launches on October 9, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC, introducing the frozen region of Norgan, 12 Lost Rites dungeons, and a relic cycle that turns items into weapons and skills. The updated character creator is already available, including on Switch 2, but the new options will only unlock in the full game when the expansion launches.
Pragmata received the free Mega Man Pack DLC, available for download starting September 17. The same broadcast brought updates for Mega Man: Dual Override and Street Fighter 6. Gematsu's coverage of Teostra is available at gematsu.com.
Why it matters
Teostra is one of the series' most recognizable elder dragons, famous for its fiery aura and explosive attacks. Featuring the monster in the extended TGS trailer highlights the tone of Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance: more classic dragons and tougher hunts, going beyond just a new map. The base game improvements matter now because current Wilds players won't have to wait until 2027 to feel part of the pacing shift.
The practical side
Wilds remains available on PS5, Xbox Series, and Steam. The Switch 2 version launches on December 4, 2026. Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance does not yet have an exact release date within 2027. Attendees at TGS, running September 17–21 at Makuhari Messe, can test the quests at the Capcom booth. Geekiki previously previewed the live stream at Capcom Spotlight TGS 2026.
