The DLSS AMD Radeon mod, developed by Daniel Blanco, has reached version 0.8.0 of DLSS-NR-on-AMD and now allows AMD Radeon (RDNA 3 and RDNA 4) owners to use nearly the entire NVIDIA DLSS feature set, including Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation, and Neural Rendering.
What happened?
The project, started in September 2026 to bring DLSS 5 Neural Rendering to AMD GPUs, has expanded significantly. The new Alpha 0.8.0, published on October 17, adds DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution (Models M and L), Ray Reconstruction (Model F), and Frame Generation with up to 4x Multi Frame Generation in compatible games.
According to the developer, the implementation is a ground-up reimplementation using custom HIP kernels, not a translation layer. Users must supply their own NVIDIA DLLs. The mod includes the NeuralHub manager for easier installation and in-game overlay feature selection. FSR 4.1.1 is also bundled.
Why does this matter?
AMD cards have equivalents like FSR, but game support is lower than DLSS. Features like Neural Rendering had no official AMD equivalent until now. This levels the playing field for Radeon users in DirectX 12 titles, especially with path tracing in games like Cyberpunk 2077.
The developer reports around 90-100 FPS at 1080p with Neural Rendering on an RX 9070 XT, aiming to approach an RTX 5070 Ti. Community results are mixed: some report little performance loss, others up to 25%.
What changes in practice?
The mod works on Windows 11, DX12 games supporting FSR, DLSS, or XeSS. Full support for RX 9000 and 7000; RDNA 2 is experimental and limited to Neural Rendering for now. Anti-cheat blocks the mod, so recommended only for single-player. Requires recent Adrenalin drivers.
