Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 Announced for PS5 and PC with Cross-Play

Bandai Namco has announced Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3, the latest title in the free-to-play team combat series set in the Mobile Suit Gundam universe. The game is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, with cross-play support between platforms.

What We Know

The announcement took place during the Gundam Games 40th Anniversary livestream. Developed by Bandai Namco Forge Digitals, the title lets players act as mercenaries piloting legendary Mobile Suits in large-scale online tactical battles. In addition to mecha combat, there are infantry elements: players can exit the cockpit to plant base bombs, request support fire, and capture objectives on foot.

At launch, the game will include Mobile Suits from Universal Century titles such as Mobile Suit Gundam, The 08th MS Team, and 0083: Stardust Memory, as well as Alternative Universe ones like Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. Plans include adding two to three Alternative series in the first year. There are also SP Skills, unique abilities that reinforce each Mobile Suit's strategic role, and a Base Camp hub for player interaction.

Tests and Languages

A Japan-only cross-play network test is scheduled for November 20 and 22, in time slots 09:00-12:00, 15:00-18:00, and 21:00-24:00. A broader open network test is also planned. The game will support audio and text in English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. No release date has been set yet.

Why It Matters

The Battle Operation series is one of the main multiplayer experiences in Gundam, and the third entry brings improved graphics, cross-play, and hybrid mecha-infantry mechanics. Fans of the franchise and team combat games have another reason to watch the November tests.
