Minecraft arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 with the Vibrant Visuals upgrade. The native version of Mojang's sandbox launched on October 27, 2026, bringing directional lighting, volumetric fog, dynamic shadows and more.
What happened?
The game is available in Standard, Deluxe Collection and Ultimate Collection editions. All include the updated Super Mario Mash-Up Pack for the new visuals, with 15 tracks and 40 skins. Owners of the digital Switch original version can upgrade for free to Standard on Switch 2 until January 31, 2027 (with exceptions in some countries). Worlds can be transferred.
Why does this matter?
Minecraft is one of the best-selling games in history and arrives natively on Switch 2 in its first year, with significant graphical improvements. The free upgrade for digital owners encourages migration and expands the console's audience.
What changes in practice?
Players on Switch 2 enjoy enhanced graphics by default (not available in split-screen). Marketplace content supporting Vibrant Visuals also works better. Official source: Minecraft.net and Nintendo.
