Metroid Ravenous enters Famitsu most wanted list for the first time

Famitsu published its weekly ranking of most wanted games based on votes from Japanese readers, for the week of October 11, 2026. The big highlight is the debut of Metroid Ravenous, the new 2D title in the series for Nintendo Switch 2, which enters the list for the first time at 30th place with 55 votes.

What happened?

Metroid Ravenous, announced in September 2026 and scheduled for release on January 28, 2027 exclusively on Switch 2, is developed by MercurySteam. The game features an energy absorption mechanic from enemies, with the slogan "it's eat or be eaten".

At the top of the list, Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 leads with 636 votes, followed by Pokemon Winds / Waves (594) and Persona 4 Revival (482). Final Fantasy Resonance appears in several positions, reflecting interest in the title arriving on October 22.

Why it matters

The entry of Metroid Ravenous into the ranking indicates growing interest from Japanese players in Samus' return to 2D after the success of Metroid Dread. The relatively low position is natural for a title announced just over a month ago, but the debut confirms the series' relevance in the Japanese market.
