Meta Superintelligence Labs announced on October 15, 2026 Muse Spark Open, the open-weight version of its Muse Spark model. It is a natively multimodal model with 816 billion total parameters and 42 billion active per token, plus a 1 million token context window.
What is Muse Spark Open
Muse Spark Open is designed for coding tasks and long-running agents. It accepts text, image, audio and video input and generates text. According to Meta, it is the most capable open-weight model from a US lab to date. Weights are available on Hugging Face under the Muse Model License and can run on engines such as SGLang, vLLM, MLX and others.
Runs on Apple desktop
One highlight is optimization for Apple Silicon. With the MLX framework, the model can run on two Mac Studios with M5 Ultra chips (up to 512 GB unified memory each), forming a system with about 1 TB of memory. Meta demonstrated fully local agentic workflows, including iOS code editing and video analysis in DaVinci Resolve.
