Meta confirmed the acquisition of Conductor, a startup founded in 2024 that lets developers run multiple AI coding agents in parallel, each in isolated copies of a project. The news was first reported by Axios on November 4, 2026, and confirmed by Conductor itself.
Charlie Holtz, Conductor’s founder and CEO, wrote that the company is joining Meta and that there are plans for a new interface by early 2027. He mentioned looking forward to working with Alexandr Wang, Meta’s chief AI officer, and Nat Friedman of Superintelligence Labs. Financial terms were not disclosed.
What Conductor does
The platform orchestrates agents from major labs such as Anthropic and OpenAI (without developing its own models) to work on compartmentalized parts of a project. It supports local, cloud, or phone-app execution. The cloud service will shut down on November 20, with data deletion to follow, while the local version continues to receive updates until early 2027.
The acquisition fits Meta’s strategy to strengthen developer tools after the launch of Muse Code and other agents. It follows similar moves in the industry, such as OpenAI’s acquisition of Pierre Computer, in the race for agentic coding tools.
