Insomniac Games shipped update 1.001.006 for Marvel's Wolverine with on/off switches for the most criticized scent trails since the September 15, 2026 launch. Players can disable whisky-bottle trails, material-crate audio clues and Nightmare Door roots.
What the patch changes
Collectible scent trails were called out as too hand-holdy. The menu now has three separate toggles. Story-critical senses — such as tracking Jean in The One That Got Away — stay on. Insomniac said story-critical senses still appear in the world.
Hotfix 1.001.005 had already lowered trail opacity after the “fart gas” nickname spread. 1.001.006 goes further for optional content and also fixes community-reported crashes.
In practice
Keep the trails if you want the classic hunt. Turn them off if you prefer exploring without the blue vapor. The game remains a PS5 exclusive. Sources: IGN and Eurogamer.
