The MacBook Pro M6 14-inch was announced by Apple on October 27, 2026. Pre-orders start today, October 28, and the first units arrive on November 6.
What happened?
The M6 features a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU (two more cores than the M5), plus a dual 16-core Neural Engine (32 cores total). Apple claims the GPU is up to 30% faster in graphics and 25% faster in AI workloads versus the M5, while the Neural Engine is up to 1.9x faster. Unified memory starts at 16 GB (up to 32 GB) with bandwidth up to 170 GB/s on higher configs. The laptop keeps the previous design, adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and promises up to 24 hours of battery life — the longest ever in a Mac.
Why does this matter?
The M6 is Apple’s first chip produced on the 2 nm process and arrives in the entry-level Pro notebook. The jump in Neural Engine and memory benefits local AI tasks (Apple Intelligence) and creative workflows. The 24-hour battery and Wi-Fi 7 reinforce the model’s position as a portable productivity and creation machine. The starting price of $1,999 (16 GB / 1 TB) stays in the previous generation’s range.
What changes in practice?
Users upgrading from M1 or M5 gain substantially higher CPU/GPU and AI performance, plus faster connectivity and longer battery life. Pre-orders are open starting today; deliveries begin November 6. The model is available in silver and space black.
