Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back: Juliet Returns on PS5 in 2027

The 2010s' most pop zombie hunter is truly back. Dragami Games and Taiwan's NADA Holdings have announced Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back, an all-new sequel to the series, slated for release in 2027 on the PlayStation 5. The title Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back was revealed on the Japanese PlayStation Blog and will feature a playable demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

What happened?

Following the 2024 remake Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the franchise is getting its first-ever original continuation. Juliet Starling returns with a fresh look and a more powerful chainsaw. San Romero has been rebuilt as Jaredwood, a metropolis centered around the film industry. A mysterious director traps Juliet inside her own zombie movie. She must fight alongside allies, unravel the conspiracy, and face the zombies of the Corrupted Realm.

Her boyfriend Nick once again appears to be just a talking head on her waist. Some plot details are still under wraps, but the message is clear: this is a brand new game, not another remaster. Both Gematsu and 4Gamer have confirmed the announcement alongside the first screenshots.

Who is making Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back?

Publishing duties are handled by NADA Holdings and Dragami Games. Development is led by JP Universe, a studio founded by Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy XV. Returning from the original team are Masahiro Yuki on the scenario and NekoshowguN for the protagonist's concept design. Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda51 are not involved this time around.

At TGS 2026, running from September 17 to 21 in Chiba, the game will be showcased at the Sega/Atlus booth featuring a playable demo, cosplay, and a special stage event. Attendees can test out the chainsaw combat before the rest of the world.

What does this mean?

The series has surpassed 1.5 million copies sold overall, according to the official announcement. RePOP proved that an audience still exists for over-the-top action, cute aesthetics, and dark humor. A PS5 console exclusive at launch suggests a strong bet on current hardware and a major campaign leading up to 2027.

Pricing, player count, and other platforms have not yet been confirmed. To celebrate the announcement, RePOP is getting up to 45% off discounts across select digital storefronts.

The takeaway

If you are heading to TGS, you can play it right now. Those staying home will have to wait for more trailers and the 2027 release. The signature pop tone and humor of the original series depend heavily on the script and art direction—two elements that only future gameplay footage will clarify. Until then, Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back is the franchise's biggest news since the remake.
