LitGirls Bookbound Dungeons was announced on Thursday, October 1, 2026, by Japanese developer NANAIRO ENTERPRISE and publisher DANGEN Entertainment. The dungeon-crawling RPG is the second title in the so-called Girls World, after the defense shooter TurretGirls, and is due on PC via Steam in the first half of 2027. Console versions have been mentioned, but without a date.
What happened?
According to the announcement reported by Famitsu and Gematsu, in LitGirls Bookbound Dungeons players build a party of up to four girls inspired by classic literature and lead them through dungeons with monsters, traps, treasure and bosses. The first characters shown are Alice, Juliet, Dante and Raven. Vietnamese studio GIANTY is involved in character production, Famitsu reports.
Between expeditions, home base is the Astral Scriptorum, a sanctuary outside time and space. Resources brought back strengthen the party, develop the base and unlock skills and equipment. Each mission has an objective, but the publisher stresses that completing it means little if the party does not return alive.
How combat works
Battles in LitGirls Bookbound Dungeons are turn-based. The characters fight in four ranks against enemies also arranged in formation, and each takes one action per turn. Besides hit points (HP), which represent physical condition, there is Pathos, tied to mental state. When HP reaches zero, further attacks can result in death. If Pathos is depleted, even a veteran fighter can lose the will to continue.
There is also LOGOS, a system built around collecting and equipping powerful words. They can grant passive bonuses or be called in mid-fight to turn a bad situation around. DANGEN also describes a visual consequence of damage: the more the characters are hit, the less visible equipment may remain by the end of the fight. An 18+ PC version on a separate storefront was confirmed by Gematsu, with details still to come.
Score and languages
The soundtrack of LitGirls Bookbound Dungeons is by Yoshitaka Hirota, of Shadow Hearts, and Shoji Meguro, of Persona. Languages planned at launch are Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese; others will be announced later. An announcement trailer is already out.
For anyone who followed TurretGirls, the genre shift is the main point: the studio trades railguns and hordes for literature, exploration and tactical combat, while keeping the anime look and playful tone. Consoles still have no official window. LitGirls Bookbound Dungeons has no price yet and no exact date inside the first half of 2027.
