King's Proposal anime reveals teaser and Rie Takahashi as Saika

CONFIRMED: the King's Proposal (Ousama no Propose) anime premieres in 2027. The announcement, made on Sunday, October 25, during the online event Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai 2026, brought a teaser visual and the confirmation of Rie Takahashi as the voice of Saika Kuozaki — a role she had already played in the light novels' promotional trailers.

The story follows Saika, the most powerful mage in the world and the only one able to stop the annihilation factors that threaten to destroy the planet every three hundred hours. When she is mortally wounded, she transfers her powers and her body to Mushiki Kuga, an ordinary student who happens to find her — and he starts attending a mage academy in her place, without being able to reveal who he really is. The announcements consulted do not yet detail an animation studio or an exact premiere date.

The work comes from the same duo behind Date A Live: author Koushi Tachibana and illustrator Tsunako. Published since September 2021 under KADOKAWA's Fantasia Bunko imprint, the series already has eight volumes, with the ninth expected on December 18, 2026. There is also a manga adaptation, drawn by Nemo Kurio and published on Gangan Online between February 2023 and March 2025, in six volumes. The anime adaptation had been announced in October 2025.
