Horizon Create: Meta lets you build AI games on your phone and play them on Instagram

Meta unveiled Horizon Create and Horizon Studio, two AI creation tools that turn a text prompt into a playable 2D or 3D game — and can publish it straight into Facebook and Instagram feeds.

What happened?

At Meta Connect, the company showed Horizon Create, a mobile app where you describe a game in natural language, and Horizon Studio, a browser editor with finer controls. Both share the Meta Horizon Engine backend, so a project started on a phone can continue on a computer without losing assets, systems, or iteration history.

According to the official developer blog, the tools produce complete games with progression, difficulty balancing, art direction, and multiplayer. Early access is rolling out via a waitlist; there is no public general-availability date.

Why it matters

Meta is not only lowering the skill barrier. It is bundling distribution. An Instagram clip can drop a player into a multiplayer session in seconds, with no extra download. That is an explicit bid against Roblox-style create-and-discover loops, but inside the apps where people already scroll.

Saxs Persson, VP of Horizon, framed it simply: a good idea should reach players without months of tools, hardware, and marketing.

What changes in practice?

  • Prompt-based building on a phone, with background generation and multiple projects at once.
  • Visual and parameter editing in the browser, with no engine install.
  • Eligibility for Facebook, Instagram, and Horizon, with reach tied to engagement, stability, and retention.
  • Automated age ratings, pre-publish review, and Meta safety systems.

In-game monetization and the Horizon Creator Fund were mentioned, without numbers. Whether agentic games stay coherent — and whether moderation holds at feed scale — is what early access has to prove.
