Hirayasumi ends its manga in two chapters. Issue 45 of Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits announced on Monday the conclusion of Keigo Shinzō's series. If there are no delays, the final chapter arrives on October 19, 2026.
What the magazine confirmed
The manga began in April 2021 and has passed 1.1 million copies in circulation worldwide. Shogakukan published the 10th volume on April 30. Viz Media publishes the work in English and released the ninth volume on May 19. The series was nominated for the Manga Taisho, ranked 18th in the 2023 Kono Manga ga Sugoi!, and also appeared on lists for the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize and the American Manga Awards.
The story follows Hiroto Ikuta, a 29-year-old without a steady job or a plan, who inherits a neighbor's house and shares it with his cousin Natsumi, an art student. Viz describes the tone as an everyday look at anxiety, grief and the pace of someone who chooses to slow down.
The anime stays on the calendar
The manga ending does not change the adaptation already announced. The television anime premieres in January 2027 on NHK General in Japan. Viz Media is co-producing the series with Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions and studio Production +h., and has also announced an English release for 2027. Before the anime, the work received a live-action series on NHK that premiered in November 2025.
This week's announcement is the end of the manga, not a change to the anime date. Anime News Network cites issue 45 of Weekly Big Comic Spirits as the source.
