The GTA 6 map of Leonida — the Florida-inspired fictional state — is the largest Rockstar Games has ever built. In a Game Informer cover interview, Aaron Garbut described Grand Theft Auto VI as roughly twice GTA 5 and the biggest "by some degree."
Six regions and more density
The GTA 6 map spans Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Rockstar says interiors, rooftops, alleys and interactive buildings go further than Los Santos.
Localized weather and hurricanes
Owen Shepherd said weather was rebuilt to be more localized and persistent. Rain can soak one area while another stays sunny. Clouds travel, wind ripples water and puddles linger. Tropical storms and hurricanes are in the simulation. Frequency and story weight remain unclear.
More than 170 species
Michael Kane confirmed more than 170 species, including 60-plus bird types and 30-plus land mammals. Flamingos, pelicans, manatees and alligators appear in a Rockstar game for the first time. Some animals may work as legendary hunts.
Why it matters
The details back an entire state with reactive weather and wildlife. No new release date came with this coverage. Source: Game Informer, echoed by VGC.
