GTA 6 is back in focus after Game Informer issue 382 landed digitally on September 29, 2026. The 14-page cover story by Marcus Stewart quotes Rockstar on the size of Leonida, its weather and its wildlife.
What happened?
Rockstar North art director Aaron Garbut said the GTA 6 map is about twice the size of GTA 5 and the studio's largest by a clear margin. Density, interiors and interaction matter as much as raw area. Leonida has six main regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.
Why it matters
Owen Shepherd described more localized, persistent weather: clouds that cross the map, rain in one neighborhood and sun in another, puddles that stay. Tropical storms and hurricanes are confirmed. There is still no public footage of those events.
In practice
GTA 6 lists more than 170 species, including more than 60 birds and more than 30 land mammals. Named examples include flamingos, manatees, pelicans, alligators, sharks, whales and invasive Florida species. Some animals can be tracked as rare, discoverable or legendary.
