The Rouanet Games and the R$ 200 million package announced by the federal government on Wednesday (14) aim to strengthen videogame production in Brazil. The resources, managed by Finep, are destined for financing game development and innovative digital solutions.
What changes in practice?
One of the main novelties is the creation of Rouanet Games, which will allow companies in the sector to raise sponsorships through the Rouanet Law in partnership with public companies. In addition, Ancine proposes reducing the minimum loan amount from the Audiovisual Sector Fund (FSA) from R$ 500,000 to R$ 150,000 and lowering interest rates from TR + 2% to TR + 0.5% per year.
For 2026, the FSA forecasts around R$ 460 million in credit for the audiovisual industry, including games. The decree also recognizes that game studios can access federal mechanisms for technology, research, innovation and culture incentives. A free public platform called Game Brasil was also announced to catalog and promote national titles.
Why does this matter?
Brazil has a large player base (estimated at over 100 million) and moves billions of reais annually. Easier access to credit and sponsorships can help independent developers and smaller studios finance projects, lower entry barriers and increase local production. The measures still depend on detailed regulation and effective execution.
