Frostpunk Nintendo Switch arrives today, October 19, 2026, for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The survival and city-building game Frostpunk, developed by 11 bit studios, finally reaches Nintendo's platform after years of community requests. What happened?
11 bit studios announced the release date on October 5, along with a free demo already available on the eShop. The game will be available in two editions: the Base Game, with a 30% launch discount, and the Complete Edition, with a 35% discount, including the expansions The Rifts, The Last Autumn, and On The Edge.
Frostpunk puts the player in command of the last city on Earth in a frozen world, where heat means life and every decision comes at a price. The title originally debuted on PC in April 2018 and later arrived on PS4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android. Now, Frostpunk Nintendo Switch allows playing in handheld mode.
Why does it matter?
After more than eight years, Nintendo fans can finally play one of the most acclaimed survival city builders of the generation. The version is compatible with Switch 2 via backward compatibility, and the demo allows testing the experience on the handheld before purchase. 11 bit studios is also preparing Frostpunk 1886, a definitive version with new content, expected in 2027.
