Fragmentary Order is “ten Tarkovs,” Nikita Buyanov told PCGamesN in an exclusive interview published September 27, 2026. The Escape from Tarkov director and RANT studio head described the project as a next-generation multiplayer combat tactical simulator in hazardous environments — and framed Tarkov itself as a rehearsal.
What he said
“Fragmentary Order is ten Tarkovs. I usually use that term. It's like the whole Tarkov experience was just a test for all of us,” Buyanov said. The game would be “way more complex, way more punishing, way more real” than Escape from Tarkov, even in a sci-fi setting in 2251.
He called production “way more expensive than Tarkov” and said the team has spent recent months on the first gameplay trailer, which he still considers early — though a current build would not look that early to outsiders.
Separate studio, Tarkov continues
RANT is not Battlestate Games. Buyanov stressed it is “a completely different company” while Escape from Tarkov continues with the original team. In April he wrote that Tarkov is “my life” and that Fragmentary Order is another adventure, with the Prime Batch Candidates program at fragmentaryorder.com.
He had imagined a single-player game after Tarkov, “but I guess it's not the time,” and does not want another ten-year cycle just to “live again.” He called Fragmentary Order a generational project and said he will “try to surprise. Again.”
What was already known
Earlier clips show large-scale combat on an industrialized Mars. This interview did not add platforms, modes or a date. Treat “ten Tarkovs” as a metaphor for ambition and complexity, not a map or raid-length metric.
