Firefly Wedding (Hotaru no Yomeiri) has dropped a brand-new promo PV and confirmed that singer-songwriter iri is performing the opening theme Period, marking her very first anime tie-in song. The series premieres on October 9, 2026, at 11:30 PM JST on Fuji TV's noitaminA block, with Crunchyroll streaming the title simultaneously.
What Happened?
The official video revisits the fated encounter between Satoko Kirigaya, the sickly heir to a Meiji-era noble family, and Shinpei Gotō, the assassin sent to eliminate her. Amidst their escape, she proposes a marriage of convenience. He accepts—treating the agreement as destiny rather than a mere disguise.
According to MANTANWEB and Yomiuri, iri wrote Period specifically for the series. The artist shared that she drew deep inspiration from Satoko's resilience, standing firm even when faced with a harsh reality most would look away from. Original manga author Oreco Tachibana described the track as a song about pressing forward no matter the circumstances.
