SNK confirmed on September 13 that Kim Kaphwan is joining Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves on September 24. The character is the third DLC of Season Pass 3, DESTINED FOR REVENGE, and completes a milestone fans have waited decades for: a playable roster featuring both a father and his sons in the same game.
What's the story?
Kim Kaphwan debuted in 1992's Fatal Fury 2 as the righteous South Korean taekwondo master dedicated to eradicating evil. In City of the Wolves, his sons were already part of the roster—Kim Dong Hwan at launch and Kim Jae Hoon in Season Pass 2. With the addition of their father, the entire Kim family is playable together in a single title for the very first time.
His Japanese voice actor is Kunihiro Kawamoto, while June Yoon voices him in English. SNK has also released official character trailers in both languages.
How this changes the game
Beyond combat, Kim Kaphwan receives his own dedicated story arcs in both the EOST RPG mode and Arcade mode. In EOST, he visits South Town to check in on his sons and Griffon Mask. In Arcade mode, the master enters a King of Fighters-style tournament to prove he still trains relentlessly every day.
Practically speaking, this is a major treat for story-mode enthusiasts and online team builders alike: the family's taekwondo legacy now boasts three distinct fighting styles on the exact same roster.
Play it early
Attendees at the Tokyo Game Show 2026—running from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe—can play as Kim Kaphwan ahead of his official September 24 release at the CFD/Crowxis booth (Hall 1, Stand 01-C13).
What's next?
Season 3 still has plenty in store, including Mikey and Draken from Tokyo Revengers on October 22, Lao Corn in November, and a mystery character in December. According to SNK's announcement, the Legend Edition, which includes Passes 1 and 2, is currently discounted by 40% across various digital storefronts.
The game is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version slated for October 22, 2026.
The official announcement can be found on SNK's PR TIMES and the official Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves website.
