The Windows Surface RTX Spark event is set for October 7, 2026, in San Francisco. In a teaser published Thursday, Microsoft said the gathering will include RTX Spark and “new experiences designed to unlock more possibilities for developers and builders.” The line, highlighted by The Verge, leaves open what exactly changes in Windows.
The stage already had confirmed names: Satya Nadella, Microsoft chairman and CEO; Pavan Davuluri, executive vice president for Windows and devices; and Jensen Huang, Nvidia founder and CEO. Earlier coverage places the start at 10 a.m. Pacific (2 p.m. in Brasília).
What the event already promised
The original invite talked about how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC. The October 1 line does not spell out a product, a price or a ship date. RTX Spark is Nvidia's platform for Windows laptops and compact desktops, announced on May 31, 2026. According to tech-ish, it pairs a 20-core Grace processor on Arm with a Blackwell graphics chip of 6,144 CUDA cores, sharing up to 128 GB of memory. TweakTown describes a custom SoC with native CUDA and up to 1 petaflop of local AI compute, enough in that coverage for models of up to 120 billion parameters.
Surface Laptop Ultra still has no price
Microsoft had already shown the Surface Laptop Ultra and the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box. Both were framed as arriving in 2026, with no price. Final availability depends on regulatory approval, according to TweakTown. Dell, Lenovo and ASUS also plan RTX Spark laptops in that report. None of that was reconfirmed in the October 1 teaser.
Why it matters
The practical point is local AI: large models running on the PC itself. Until October 7, what is confirmed is the date, the city, Huang's presence and the RTX Spark focus.
