Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen received its main trailer during the Capcom Spotlight at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The expansion takes the Arisen to the snowy northern region of Norgan and launches on October 9, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
What happened?
The Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen video highlights the new area, enemies, and the story of the Fallen Dragon—a creature that keeps moving despite a hollow cavity where its heart should be. The mysterious Eir chases this threat, and players team up with her to unearth forgotten relics. Appraising these items unlocks new weapons, armor, and skills.
Aside from the Norgan campaign, the expansion adds 12 dungeon challenges called Lost Rites across the base game areas, along with additional hairstyles and tattoos for the character creator. The Dragon's Dogma 2: Character Creator & Storage tool has already been updated on PS5, Xbox, Steam, and now the Switch 2, letting players prep their looks in advance. The new options will only appear in the main game when the expansion launches.
What does this mean?
Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is much more than just an extra map pack. Capcom treats the expansion as the definitive version of the sequel, echoing the spirit of the original 2013 Dark Arisen. On the Switch 2, the product launches as a complete bundle including the base game. On PS5, Xbox, and PC, players who already own Dragon's Dogma 2 can purchase the DLC separately.
Capcom also announced official Pawns created by partners worldwide to assist in Lost Rites and the exploration of Norgan, with more official Pawns rolling out post-launch.
Why does it matter?
The expansion wraps up the post-launch cycle for the 2024 action RPG while marking the franchise's debut on the Switch 2. Fans of the Pawn combat system and vocations will find fresh story content, extra dungeons, and deeper customization without having to wait for a distant sequel.
In practice
Current players of the 2024 title can jump into the character creator right now. Newcomers eyeing the Switch 2 bundle can pre-order today. Capcom released the trailer in English and Japanese alongside new official screenshots this Wednesday.
