German PC maker XMG (Schenker Technologies) says its purchase price for DDR5 SO-DIMM modules has risen nearly sixfold since July 2025. Most of its laptop lineup is going up, typically by 100 to 150 euros and by as much as 300 euros on some models.
What changed
XMG names DDR5 SO-DIMM as the main driver. GPU and CPU costs also rose. RTX 5090 configs add up to 120 euros. New prices took effect on September 18 in the Bestware store. APEX 17 M25 and Fusion 16 M25 with RTX 5070 saw 35 to 50 euro cuts on that GPU.
Market context
A 16 Gb DDR5 die was around $55.32 on September 17, 2026, about 480% higher year over year on spot trackers. XMG does not expect medium-term relief and cites Micron's tighter DRAM and NAND outlook beyond 2027.
