Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 officially premiered on Netflix this Tuesday, October 20, 2026, with all ten episodes available at once. Produced by CD PROJEKT RED in partnership with Japanese studio TRIGGER, the series is a standalone story set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.
What happened?
CD PROJEKT RED confirmed the premiere of Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 in an official statement. Four years after the success of the first season, which helped rehabilitate the game's image, the new series brings a completely new cast and a story of revenge and redemption in Night City.
Directed by Kai Ikarashi in his series directorial debut, the showrunner is Bartosz Sztybor, Hugo Award winner for his work on the first season. Character design is by Ichigo Kanno. The production maintains the bold and dynamic visual style characteristic of TRIGGER.
Why does this matter?
The first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a cultural phenomenon that boosted Cyberpunk 2077 sales. Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 arrives as the game prepares for Update 2.5 (Edgerunners 2 Update), scheduled for October 22, with content inspired by the anime, including dual-wielding and thematic items.
The protagonists are Weak Kingsley (a veteran edgerunner without implants), D (a netrunner seeking revenge), Roman Carax (a young filmmaker) and Talia Yang (former corporate linked to Maelstrom). The series explores themes of purpose, documenting reality and the extremes of life in Night City.
What changes in practice?
Fans can already watch all ten episodes of Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 exclusively on Netflix. The game will receive related content on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following shortly after. More details about the update will be revealed on REDstreams on October 21.
The opening theme is "10:15 Saturday Night" by The Cure, the ending is "Watson" by Petite Meller, and the score is by Tsuneo Imahori. The series is standalone, so watching the first season is not required.
