CD PROJEKT RED has announced Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, a free update inspired by the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, arriving on October 22, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow shortly.
What happened?
On the same day that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix with all 10 episodes available, the Polish studio confirmed Update 2.5 (also called the Edgerunners 2 Update). According to the official statement, the update will bring “new items and features” inspired by the anime, including cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding playstyle.
More details will be revealed in a special REDstreams episode on October 21 at 5 PM CEST, streamed on Twitch, YouTube and Steam. Official patch notes will be published the same day.
Why does this matter?
The first Edgerunners significantly boosted Cyberpunk 2077’s sales and reputation after its troubled launch. Repeating the formula with free in-game content at the moment of season 2’s release strengthens the synergy between Studio Trigger’s anime and the Night City RPG.
Dual-wielding and cyberware customization have been long-standing community requests, and including them in a free update shows CDPR’s continued commitment to post-launch support years after the original release.
What changes in practice?
Players will be able to return to Night City or start a new campaign with new content inspired by the characters and visual style of Edgerunners 2. Cyberware customization should allow more freedom in build crafting, while dual-wielding opens new combat possibilities.
- Release: October 22, 2026 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series)

The update arrives at a moment of high visibility for the Cyberpunk universe, with the anime premiere and the game’s sixth anniversary approaching.
