Cyberpunk 2077 Battle.net: Geralt Becomes a Barbarian in Diablo IV

The partnership between CD Projekt Red and Blizzard took center stage at BlizzCon 2026: Cyberpunk 2077 Battle.net integration is launching later this year, Geralt is transforming into a Barbarian cosmetic in Diablo IV, and the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime is crossing over into Overwatch in 2027.

What Happened?

During the '30 Years of Battle.net With Special Guest CD PROJEKT RED' panel, Amelia Korzycka and Miles Tost confirmed that the base game, the Phantom Liberty expansion, and the Ultimate Edition will be sold on the Blizzard store later in 2026. No exact release date was given, only a 2026 launch window. The announcement of Cyberpunk 2077 Battle.net arrived the same weekend BlizzCon detailed several other major crossovers.

This follows the recent announcement that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is coming to the same storefront on September 29. The upcoming Songs of the Past expansion, slated for 2027, is already available to wishlist on Battle.net.

Geralt in Sanctuary

The thematic Geralt cosmetic set for the Diablo IV Barbarian was shown off in full. Players who pre-order Songs of the Past on Battle.net—or purchase the expansion at launch—will receive the skin. Those who already own The Witcher 3 exclusively on Steam, GOG, or consoles will not unlock the item automatically, as the bonus is strictly tied to purchases made on the Blizzard store.

CD Projekt Red stated that this marks the first The Witcher content crossover in Diablo IV. More material is scheduled to arrive in 2027, though an item list has not yet been revealed.

Edgerunners in Overwatch

In 2027, Overwatch will host a collaboration featuring Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and its sequel, Edgerunners 2, which premieres on Netflix on October 20, 2026. The announcement coincided with the fourth anniversary of the original animated series.

What Does This Mean?

Battle.net is expanding beyond a purely Blizzard-centric launcher to sell two of CD Projekt Red's most iconic RPGs. For gamers who already own everything on Steam or GOG, the practical impact is minimal: it is simply another storefront option rather than a brand-new game version. The immediate value of the partnership lies in the exclusive skins and crossovers.

The familiar friction point remains: the Diablo IV Geralt skin pulls players toward the Battle.net ecosystem even if they already paid for The Witcher 3 elsewhere. It is the classic store-exclusive bonus tactic used by companies to encourage platform migration.

In Practice

  • Want the game on yet another launcher? Keep an eye out for the Cyberpunk 2077 Battle.net page launching in 2026.
  • Want Geralt for your Barbarian? You must purchase Songs of the Past on Battle.net; owning the remaster on another store won't suffice.
  • Want Night City skins in Overwatch? Those are arriving in 2027, following the debut of Edgerunners 2.

What This Doesn't Mean

There have been no announcements regarding Blizzard games heading to GOG or Steam beyond what is already available. Furthermore, there is no locked release date for Cyberpunk 2077 Battle.net, nor a confirmed list of heroes or skins for the Overwatch crossover.
