Control Resonant, the sequel to the acclaimed Control from Remedy Entertainment, has reached the milestone of 1 million copies sold in just three weeks after its launch on September 24, 2026. The Finnish studio announced the achievement on October 15, highlighting that it is the fastest-selling game in its 31-year history.
What happened?
The announcement was accompanied by a statement from CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon, who described the result as a "very strong start". According to him, Control Resonant is the first large-scale title self-published by Remedy, launched in one of the most competitive windows in recent years alongside major industry names.
For comparison, Alan Wake 2, which previously held the record for Remedy's fastest-selling game, took about two months to reach 1 million copies. The original Control took much longer to reach similar numbers in its early commercial period.
Why does this matter?
The commercial success of Control Resonant is particularly relevant for Remedy, a studio known for critically acclaimed games but with a history of slower sales. The title brought new melee combat mechanics with the Aberrant weapon, starring Dylan Faden in a Manhattan distorted by paranatural forces.
The game is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The 1 million milestone reinforces the long-term potential of the Control franchise and gives the studio more financial breathing room for future projects, including the Max Payne remake.
