Control Resonant has surpassed 1 million copies sold worldwide, just three weeks after its digital launch on September 24, 2026. Remedy Entertainment confirmed the milestone, making it the fastest-selling title in the Finnish studio's 31-year history, surpassing Alan Wake 2, which took about two months to reach the same milestone.
What happened with Control Resonant?
The official announcement came on October 15. Control Resonant is the sequel to the acclaimed 2019 game Control, focusing on Dylan Faden, Jesse's brother, in a reality-warped Manhattan engulfed by a paranatural crisis. The game launched digitally on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with physical editions arriving on the same day as the sales milestone.
CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon called the result "a very strong start". He highlighted that this is Remedy's first self-published release of this scale, launched into one of the most competitive windows in years alongside the industry's biggest names.
What does it mean for Control Resonant?
Gaudechon said the launch shows that Control deserved an even bigger audience, connecting long-time fans while bringing in a significant number of new players. With Control and Alan Wake as established franchises, the focus is to build on what makes them special and grow them further. "There is a lot more to come from these worlds," the CEO stated.
For a studio known for critically acclaimed games that sell more slowly, reaching 1 million in three weeks is a significant step, especially as a self-published title.
Context and reception of Control Resonant
The original Control sold about 2 million copies by the end of 2020. Alan Wake 2, released in 2023, was the previous record holder. Control Resonant launched into a packed September, making the performance even more notable.
Physical Standard and SteelBook editions are available for PS5 and Xbox Series X, with regional pricing varying. The success reinforces the long-term potential of the Control franchise.
