The Chiikawa anime will pause original episodes from October 2, 2026. Instead of new shorts on Fuji TV’s Mezamashi TV, the show enters a revival through December 25 and resumes new stories in January 2027.
What happened?
The official site plus Oricon and PHILE WEB confirmed the temporary halt of the Chiikawa anime. Twenty-five high-impact episodes return, mixing terrestrial TV and short-window streaming.
Broadcast slots on Tuesdays and Fridays air only the opening chapter of each arc. Every Friday at 8 a.m. Japan time, the official YouTube channel, FOD and TVer post a one-week special with the full arc, including parts that skip linear TV.
The revival opens October 2 with episode 6. The week of October 6 brings the Nantoka Bania arc: episodes 21 and 22 on TV and 23 only in the digital bundle.
Why it matters
The Chiikawa anime is no longer just Nagano’s web manga. The July film remains in theaters and became Japan’s top 2026 box-office title, about $99.7 million by September 20.
The Chiikawa International YouTube channel also starts weekly official English-dubbed episodes on October 1, after previous Korean and Chinese dubs.
What changes in practice?
Linear Japanese TV gets reruns until Christmas. Streaming packs deliver each weekly arc in full. New production is slated for January 2027. There is no cancellation notice.
