ChatGPT Ads has started appearing in seven Asian markets: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan. OpenAI says the ChatGPT ad platform now covers more than 60 countries.
What happened?
The official post went live on September 23, 2026. The ChatGPT Ads rollout began on Thursday the 24th. It follows earlier Asia-Pacific launches in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and India.
Advertisers can buy through Ads Manager (self-serve from day one), the OpenAI Ads Solutions team, or agencies such as dentsu, Havas Media, Omnicom Media, Publicis Groupe and WPP.
Who sees the ads?
ChatGPT Ads appear only for Free and Go users. Plus, Pro and Enterprise stay ad-free. Ads are labeled, sit apart from answers and do not change model responses.
Why it matters
In late August OpenAI said ads were already running at a US$1 billion annualized pace, less than 200 days after launch. ChatGPT Ads turns the chat into a media channel at the moment people compare products.
