Castlevania Belmont's Curse Demo Drops Oct 1 with Save Transfer

Castlevania Belmont's Curse has a demo release date: October 1, 2026. Konami confirmed the announcement at the Tokyo Game Show, two weeks ahead of its October 15 launch. Save data from the demo will carry over to the final game on the same platform and account.

What Happened?

On the Konami stage at TGS 2026, producer Isao Taniguchi and director Yukiko Sotoo outlined the pre-launch roadmap. Famitsu and the official Castlevania Belmont's Curse website confirmed the demo for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Download sizes are expected to range between 3 GB and 6 GB depending on the platform. The Switch version targets 30 fps, while PS5, Xbox, and PC target 60 fps. The playable slice covers the beginning of Rose Belmont's campaign in Paris, set in the year 1499.

How the Demo Save Transfer Works

Three rules apply to carrying over your progress: the same platform, the same account, and the save file must remain on your device. The full game must also be updated to the latest version. While some features may be locked in the demo, players can level up and experience a genuine chunk of the story rather than just an isolated tutorial.

Gematsu and Video Games Chronicle echoed Konami's message: players who jump in early won't lose their progress.

What is Castlevania Belmont's Curse

The game is a 2D action-adventure exploration title developed by Konami in collaboration with Evil Empire (the studio behind The Rogue Prince of Persia) with consulting from Motion Twin (creators of Dead Cells). Players control Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor, alongside sections playing as Trevor himself.

The iconic Vampire Killer whip makes its return, alongside sub-weapons, magical items, and the Arcana system: defeated bosses turn into cards that unlock spells and abilities. Classic foes like Death, Medusa, and Carmilla return, alongside Joan of Arc as a brand-new boss. The story takes place 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Key art is provided by Katsuya Terada, and the title was recently featured in the Future category at the Japan Game Awards 2026.

Why It Matters

Castlevania Belmont's Curse launches in mid-October, right when horror and Metroidvania fans are looking for their next big fix. A demo with transferable save data removes purchase friction and lets players test out the whip-slinging combat, platforming, and exploration firsthand. For series veterans, it's the very first official chance to experience this hybrid of classic stage progression and a more open map structure.
