The CachyOS team is preparing a dedicated kernel to meet the requirements of Easy Anti-Cheat Linux v2, Epic Games' new anti-cheat version for Linux. The work in progress is CONFIRMED, reported by GamingOnLinux on 29 October 2026, based on a draft opened on GitHub by CachyOS founder and developer Peter Jung.
The proposed kernel is called linux-cachyos-eac and will be fully optional: users who do not want the security restrictions can keep using the distribution's current kernels. The idea is to offer a separate boot entry only for games protected by EAC v2, without turning the whole installation into a restricted environment.
What EAC Linux v2 requires
Unlike the Windows anti-cheat, EAC Linux v2 does not use its own kernel driver. Instead, it relies on security features already present in Linux: a signed kernel, signed modules, TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, measured boot, kernel lockdown in integrity mode, disabled kexec and an active BPF LSM. Epic plans to test the system first in Fortnite, before offering it to other developers.
What is still open
The work is still in development: there is no final release date and no confirmed list of compatible games, and the setup guide may still change. CachyOS has also ordered specific hardware to work on signing the Secure Boot keys, according to the developer's account. Traditional Arch Linux users, in turn, will be able to install the project's packages, according to a comment cited in the coverage.
If the initiative moves forward, CachyOS positions itself among the first distributions to publicly commit to the new standard — a relevant step for Linux gamers who today run into multiplayer titles blocked by anti-cheat.
