The arena roguelite Brotato received the Primal Dread DLC on PC this Monday (November 2), available on Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG for $3.99. Developed by Blobfish Games and Evil Empire, the package is the biggest expansion since Abyssal Terrors, released over two years ago.
What the DLC brings
Primal Dread takes the potato protagonist to the Jungle, a new map with 20 waves of enemies, elites and bosses. Adversaries include mutant and cybernetic dinosaurs, plus a new environmental hazard: holes in the ground. The pack adds 10 characters, 17 weapons, around 40 items, 3 pets, new music tracks and achievements separated from the base game.
Evolution: two paths
The central novelty is the Evolution stat. The player can push it in two directions by collecting items on the map:
- Mecha: reinforces weapons and grants extra stats. In return, enemies become mechanical dinosaurs that shoot lasers and leave oil puddles that slow you down.
- Mutation: randomly multiplies item effects. Opponents turn into mutant dinosaurs that spread acid.
Each path changes the visuals and attack patterns of enemies. The base game also received update 1.2, with an Item Sets feature, Nightmare enemy adjustments and buffs to older characters.
Console versions (including Switch 2) and mobile are planned for early 2027. Geekiki had reported the release date in October; the content is now effectively available.
