Barotrauma will get its Home & Harbor expansion on December 2, 2026. The announcement was made by Daedalic Entertainment on October 26, and developers FakeFish and Undertow Games confirmed on Steam that the free “Companion Update” arrives a week earlier, on November 26.
The headline addition is player-owned outposts: players will be able to acquire, manage and defend their own outpost on Europa, Jupiter's moon. An outpost can start small, gained through story events or seized from NPCs by force, and grow with modules, customization and workshops unlocked through research trees, with Dwellers to manage. Europa's factions do not stand still: they attack and conquer some outposts, while trading with friendlier ones.
The other half of the expansion is the story of the Descendants, a mysterious technocratic faction bringing weapons, submarines and new secrets about Europa, and asking players for help against a threat. The second episode of the making-of dev diary accompanies the announcement and details how outpost management connects to the submarine gameplay.
Barotrauma, a 2D co-op submarine simulator for up to 16 players, left Early Access in March 2023. At announcement time, the base game and the Supporter Edition were discounted by 50%.
