Koei Tecmo used the second business day of Tokyo Game Show 2026, on September 18, to detail the social and living quarters aspect of Attack on Titan 3 (known in Japan as Shingeki no Kyojin 3). Beyond slaying Titans using omni-directional mobility gear, the game puts players right inside the Survey Corps barracks: chatting, gifting, sharing meals, and fulfilling requests from anime characters.
The title launches on December 10, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The developer describes this chapter as the grand finale of the gaming series, covering the story from start to finish, featuring the Nine Titans in battle for the first time in this franchise, and rebuilding classic narrative arcs.

What happened?
During Koei Tecmo's TGS stage presentation, producer Hideo Suzuki and his team confirmed gameplay systems previously only mentioned in promotional text. The protagonist is a Survey Corps veteran who has lived alongside Levi and Hanji for years—having risen from an underground workshop, recruited for technical prowess, and eventually tasked with training the 104th Cadet Corps.
Back at the barracks, players can converse with the original cast and deliver gifts. Certain characters, like Hanji, will accept invitations to the protagonist's room. Dialogue choices alter the scene; lingering in conversation unlocks an unlimited free-roam contemplation mode where characters react dynamically when addressed.
There are also narrative-driven character missions called "consultations" featuring distinct beginnings, middles, and ends. One showcased example featured Levi inviting the player on an expedition beyond the walls.
What does this mean?
Omega Force isn't just stacking more tether combat. The game successfully blends tactical hunting with base life management: sharing a meal increases platoon intimacy and grants temporary team buffs. Doing this before heading beyond the walls makes Titan combat significantly more manageable. Keeping Levi supplied with his preferred tea keeps him satisfied—a small detail, but one that fans expect.
Players with save data from Attack on Titan 2 or Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle on the same platform will receive a squad companion named after their previous hero, complete with a special ability. Names can be changed later to avoid clashing with the new protagonist. Save data must be present on the specific console or PC where you play the sequel.
Why does it matter?
TGS 2026 serves as the ultimate pre-launch showcase. Hands-on reports from attendees testing the booth demo note that the mobility gear feels smoother than in the second installment, but the Titans are far from forgiving: the sequence featuring Levi pursuing Zeke lasts roughly 15 minutes and brutally punishes players who rely purely on zip-lining without reading enemy movements.
Furthermore, original subplots outside the anime will be included. More details are expected during the September 20 stage event featuring the voice cast. The animated opening sequence is once again being handled by Studio MAPPA, the studio behind the anime's final season.
