Studio Atelico has opened Early Access for the Atelico AI Engine, an AI engine designed to run directly on the player's device, integrated with engines like Unity, Unreal and Godot.
What happened?
Announced on October 29, 2026, the engine allows running language models, image generation, speech systems, semantic search and AI character behaviors locally, without relying on the cloud. This eliminates per-token costs, latency and privacy concerns, since player data never leaves the device.
The technology already powers the game Bobium Brawlers, where the player describes a creature in natural language and receives a portrait and playable deck generated on the phone. It also runs in the GARP demo with dozens of agents in real time.
Why does this matter?
The engine includes the Compute Graphics Scheduler (CGS), which allows AI to share the GPU with the renderer without dropping FPS. In tests, it maintained 121 FPS in 4K scenes while generating text. It offers image generation in about 1 second on Apple Silicon and support for NPCs with memories, personalities and relationships.
Founded by veterans from Uber, Meta, SEGA and Creative Assembly, the studio believes AI should serve the player experience, not replace developers.
What changes in practice?
Developers can request access to Early Access at atelico.studio/ai-engine. This opens doors for games with player-controlled procedural content, dynamic dialogues and real personalization, without prohibitive cloud costs. Spots are limited.
