ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 arrives with 7.4-inch OLED screen and 20-year design

What happened?

ASUS Republic of Gamers announced the availability of the ROG Xbox Ally X20 starting October 15, 2026. The handheld celebrates ROG's 20 years and is on sale for $1,299 as a standalone unit or $2,499 in a bundle with ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses, dbrand Killswitch case and Pelican case.

The main highlight is the 7.4-inch ROG Nebula HDR Display OLED at 1080p and 120 Hz, with up to 1,400 nits peak, FreeSync Premium Pro, Dolby Vision and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400. It is the first OLED in the Ally line.

Why does this matter?

The Ally X20 elevates the Windows handheld experience with better visual quality, more durable controls and collector design. The OLED screen brings deep blacks and higher HDR brightness, while the TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) joysticks reduce drift risk compared to traditional sticks or even Hall Effect.

The processor remains the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, with 24 GB of LPDDR5X and a 1 TB SSD. There is also a microSD Express slot for faster expansion, DisplayPort 2.1 and improvements to cooling and ergonomics.

What changes in practice?

Players get better visual fidelity in games and media, more precise and durable controls, and a translucent black look with gold accents that pays homage to the aesthetic of consoles and gadgets from the 2000s. The AR glasses bundle offers an additional immersive experience.

The price is $300 above the previous Ally X ($999), which remains on sale. ASUS highlights software improvements in Armoury Crate, HDR modes and game profiles. The device is already in stock at retailers such as Best Buy in the US.
