Arc System Works opens Takumi studio in Tokyo on November 2, 2026. The new development studio ARC SYSTEM WORKS TOKYO STUDIO “TAKUMI”, located in Shinjuku, aims to dramatically strengthen the company’s development capabilities and begin work on a new fighting game selected for the IP360 subsidy project of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
What is the Takumi studio?
Located at Urban Center Shinjuku (2-5-10 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), Takumi is described by the company as a “strategic cornerstone” for going beyond conventional development frameworks and delivering “ultimate excitement” to players worldwide. In addition to being a production base, the Takumi studio will also function as a global collaboration hub.
The new fighting game and IP360
The first major project of the Takumi studio is a new-IP fighting game that uses Arc System Works’ signature cel-shaded 3D style. The project was selected under the IP360 program, which supports Japanese content (games, anime, manga, music and live-action) with the goal of raising overseas sales of Japanese content to 20 trillion yen by 2033. No title, character roster or release window has been revealed yet for this new fighting game.
Arc System Works context
The company, known for Guilty Gear Strive, BlazBlue and the recent Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls (launched in partnership with PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games), is expanding recruitment of creators to join the Takumi studio as founding members. The studio opening represents a significant investment in the global expansion of its anime-style fighting games.
Why it matters
For fans of fighting games and Arc System Works’ anime aesthetic, the Takumi studio signals the possibility of a new high-level IP with simultaneous multiplatform release and full localization. Government support via IP360 reinforces the focus on international expansion and on maintaining the animation quality that defines the developer. Arc System Works opens the Takumi studio precisely to accelerate this growth.
