Suikoden anime premieres in Japan with a 60-minute episode and streaming from October 3

The Suikoden anime began airing in Japan on October 3, 2026, with a 60-minute first episode. The series adapts Konami's classic RPG and is reaching both Japanese television and streaming platforms.

What happened?

The official site confirms the October 3 premiere on TOKYO MX, Kansai TV, BS Asahi and other broadcasters, 32 stations in total. On TOKYO MX, episode 1 aired Saturday, October 3, at 8 p.m. From episode 2, the show moves to a weekly Tuesday 11:30 p.m. slot starting October 13. On October 6, the station airs a franchise special instead of a regular episode.

Streaming also began on October 3 from 8 p.m., staggered across platforms. The official schedule page does not lock in a full international catalog, so availability outside Japan still depends on each service.

Why it matters

Suikoden, Gensou Suikoden in Japan, is one of the most cited PlayStation-era RPGs, built around politics, armies and 108 Stars of Destiny. The adaptation is produced by KONAMI animation, planned by NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan, and backed by its own production committee. Sato Yuzo directs, Tsuchiya Michihiro handles series composition, and the original work is credited to Konami Digital Entertainment.

The opening is amazarashi's "Kanashimi sae Otonabite." The ending is Koji Nakamura's "closed eye sun," featuring Takahashi Honoka. A March cast update named Yashiro Taku as Luca and Anzai Chika as Jill.

What changes in practice?

For fall-season viewers, Suikoden lands alongside other game adaptations, including Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which Netflix dates to October 20. The immediate hook is the one-hour special and the post-premiere schedule shift: episode 2 does not air the following week on TOKYO MX, but on October 13.
