Aniimo Drops on Mobile Today With the World of Idyll in Your Pocket

The creature-collecting RPG Aniimo is making the jump from PC and consoles to Android and iOS this Wednesday (23). The mobile version is free-to-play, features the exact same open world of Idyll, and shares cross-progression with Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox—provided you play on the same server.

Developer Pawprint, published by Kingsglory, confirmed pre-downloads on Tuesday and regional go-live times: Americas at 10:00 PM on Sept 22 (UTC-4), Europe at 2:00 AM on Sept 23 (UTC+0), and Asia-Pacific at 10:00 AM on Sept 23 (UTC+8). In practice, players on the Americas server can already jump in via mobile.

What is Aniimo

Aniimo is a free-to-play open-world game where you explore the continent of Idyll, encounter over 200 creatures, and form a bond called a Twine. This bond unlocks abilities, lets you evolve your companion, and in some cases, view the world from the creature's own perspective.

The obvious comparisons are Pokémon and Palworld: you capture, care for, and battle. The difference emphasized by the developer is creature behavior in the environment—some roam solo, others in packs, reacting to weather and evolving in distinct ways based on context, not just level.

The game launched on Steam on September 15 and has been racking up generally positive reviews. Peak concurrent players surpassed 160,000 in its first week, according to public platform tracking.

What Changes on Mobile

According to the studio's official notice, old test clients are no longer supported: players must download the new app from the stores. Pre-downloading requires about 18 GB of free space and a stable Wi-Fi connection. There is a 60 frames-per-second mode on most devices—though the studio warns this will warm up your phone—alongside a tablet-optimized interface with higher render scaling on large screens.

Progress is shared between PC, console, and mobile within the same server. Accounts across different servers will not merge. Players coming from the Steam playtest must link their Aniimo Pass email to avoid losing pre-registration rewards.

Older Android devices may block installation if the GPU does not support Vulkan 1.1. Official support strongly recommends downloading exclusively through official app stores.

Why This Matters

Creature collecting on mobile is nothing new. What Aniimo attempts is seamless saves whether you are on the couch or commuting, offering true crossplay and a world that has already been populated for a week on PC. For players, this drastically lowers the hardware barrier: no dedicated graphics card required to keep up with friends who started on Steam.

The game features in-app purchases. None of them are mandatory to explore Idyll, but the title follows a live-service model: events, battle passes, and special eggs will regularly drop on the calendar.

Quick Tips

  • Download via Google Play or the App Store.
  • Choose the same server as your PC or console if you want to keep your save.
  • Link your Aniimo Pass email upon your first login.
  • Set aside 18 GB of storage, and lower graphic settings if your device heats up at 60 FPS.
