AMD FSR 4.1 Arrives on Radeon RX 6000, Handhelds and Xbox Series

AMD's FSR 4.1 has now officially expanded to a much broader range of devices thanks to its machine learning-based upscaling technology. The release is part of the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 driver, already available for download.

What changed with FSR 4.1

FSR 4.1 now covers the following platforms:

  • Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards (from RX 6900 down to RX 6400), using an optimized INT8 model derived from the RX 7000 version;
  • Ryzen AI Max processors and laptops powered by Ryzen AI 9;
  • Handhelds with Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, Ryzen Z2 Extreme and Ryzen Z2 A (including devices such as the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally, subject to manufacturer drivers);
  • Xbox Series X|S consoles, with availability “coming soon,” confirmed by Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet.

The technology reconstructs high-quality frames from lower internal resolutions and includes frame generation improvements plus future Vulkan support. In official demonstrations, FSR 4.1 Performance mode at 4K visually outperforms FSR 3.1 Quality mode on cards such as the RX 6800 XT, delivering sharper detail and cleaner motion.

Why FSR 4.1 matters for gamers

Owners of hardware from 2020 onward gain a significant leap in image quality and performance across hundreds of supported games without replacing their GPU or console. AMD delivered RX 6000 support ahead of its original 2027 schedule. The next announced step is FSR Diamond for the Xbox Project Helix family of devices. More information on the official AMD website.
