Capcom announced this Sunday (20) a brand-new artwork celebrating the 25th anniversary of Ace Attorney and, in the same announcement, confirmed that the collection Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy — known in Japan as Gyakuten Saiban 123 Naruhodou Selection — has surpassed 5 million copies sold worldwide.
The official anniversary date is October 12, 2026. The illustration was released on the series' official X accounts, with Famitsu and DenfaminicoGamer echoing the announcement in Japan.

What happened?
Series artists Kazuya Nuri (character designer) and Takuro Fuse (art director) drew nine characters in special outfits. Featured in the artwork are Phoenix Wright, Maya Fey, and Miles Edgeworth; Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes; Kay Faraday from Ace Attorney Investigations; and the trio from The Great Ace Attorney: Ryunosuke Naruhodo, Susato Mikotoba, and Kazuma Asogi.
In the West, Capcom described the visual as a celebration featuring "fan favorites dressed to impress." In Japan, the @Gyakuten_capcom account published the artwork followed by the milestone of 5 million sales for the Phoenix Wright trilogy.
What does this mean?
The trilogy brings together the first three games starring Phoenix Wright. These are courtroom adventure games where players examine evidence, point out contradictions, and build their defense — shouting the famous "Objection!". Reaching five million copies for this collection alone shows that the format has broken out of its GBA/DS niche to become a staple catalog title on the Switch, Steam, and other storefronts.
Capcom also reminded fans that sales for the series are currently live on the Japanese Nintendo eStore and Steam. No new numbered game was announced at this time.
Why is this important?
Ace Attorney is reaching a quarter-century with its main cast reunited in a single official piece of art. This includes the classic trio, later generations, and the Victorian-era spin-off. With official language support expanding globally over the years, milestones like this highlight the franchise's massive footprint outside of Japan.
The Bottom Line
For newcomers, the trilogy remains the cheapest and best entry point, now backed by a 5-million-sales milestone. Fans of the series get a collector's-grade visual and a date to look forward to: October 12. In Japan, the Capcom Cafe in Ikebukuro and Umeda will also host a 25th-anniversary collaboration starting October 9, featuring a themed menu and exclusive merchandise.
