A Returner's Magic Should Be Special has officially confirmed its Season 2 premiere for October 7, 2026. In Japan, the title is known as Kikansha no Mahō wa Tokubetsu Desu. The production joins Fuji TV's +Ultra block and brings back the creative core from the first season, which aired in Fall 2023.
The official website and Anime News Network highlight a new promotional video featuring the opening theme 'Sorrow' by the band FLOW—the same group behind 'GET BACK' from the previous season. Crunchyroll, which streamed the first season, will air the continuation in simulcast. Also check out on Geekiki the delay of Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble Survivaton and the 2027 Doraemon movie.

What is A Returner's Magic Should Be Special About?
The Korean webtoon by Usonan and Wookjakga, published by D&C Media, follows the second chance of the magician Desir. After the Shadow World nearly wipes out humanity, he is sent back 13 years in time and attempts to gather the party that failed in the original timeline to prevent the Shadow Labyrinth.
Season 1 covered the beginning of this return at the Hebrion Magic Academy and the clash between nobles and commoners. Season 2 picks up from episode 13. FLOW described 'Sorrow' as capturing the strength of those who have truly experienced pain, as Desir's battles become even harsher.
Why It Matters
A Returner's Magic Should Be Special is one of the standout Fall 2026 anime with Korean origins and a massive Western fanbase. Having a confirmed date, opening theme, and streaming window removes the vague 'October' timeframe from the schedule. It also highlights the continued success of adapting Korean webtoons into Japanese TV anime with a dedicated local staff.
In Practice
Fans who watched Season 1 on Crunchyroll can expect Season 2 on the same platform, simultaneously with Japan. Muse Asia has licensed the season for October in its respective territory. Yen Press publishes the manhwa in English. More details can be found on the official website.
