What happened?
The launch of 007 First Light Switch 2 has been confirmed for March 18, 2027. IO Interactive announced the official date this week, opening pre-orders and releasing a new gameplay trailer showing the game running on Nintendo's console.
The reimagined James Bond origin story has been on the market since May 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. The Switch 2 version suffered previous delays precisely to ensure better performance and optimization on the hybrid platform.
Playable builds were presented at Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, where player feedback was positive. The additional time until March will be used to further refine performance on Switch 2.
Why does this matter?
The date ends the uncertainty that surrounded the port since the delay announced in September. Switch 2 fans now know exactly when they can experience the spy adventure, which allows stealth or direct action approaches, with gadgets, vehicles and missions in iconic settings.
The Deluxe Edition, available for $69.99, includes the exclusive GoldenEye suit and additional gadgets. A special edition via Amazon also offers the Classic Tuxedo.
What changes in practice?
For those who already played on other platforms, Switch 2 represents the chance to take Bond anywhere. The delay illustrates the effort needed to adapt demanding games to Switch 2 hardware, a challenge similar to that faced by other recent ports.
